Warm Smiles

Back at SFG, Enid was highly recommending that I should get to know Steven Tan better.

"Oh, he's tall and relatively well-built, you'll like him".

I abhor such descriptions. Why are there no accompanying and more important information such as what sort of person he is, character etc?

Nothing. Zilch. Save for a description of his supposedly impressive exterior.

I've a vague recollection of how he looks like. But not anything about who he is or what he does.

I remember the two brothers Kok Hui and Juin Hui though. Jenny and Sharon's got their eye on them! :)

As for Enid, well, she's trying to arrange a dinner date between the Tomatoes (hence nicknamed because of a tomato eating contest that the hapless men had to participate in, at our behest).

Juin Hui and Steven were in the same lift as I was at SFG. Managed to exchange warm smiles with the two of them. They seem nice. At least, I felt comfortable.

But one wonders whether they know what they are looking for.

Do I know what I'm looking for?

News From the Continent

It is at one of those ho-hum network lunches that Tall Man came up, smiling at me.

To be honest, I've always felt a bit embarrassed whenever I see him, at seminars or network events. Even shy. I dunno how to explain it, but it's just that for an underling amoeba like me, to be his stand-in for a month in his absence, is truly asking a child to fill a big pair of shoes.

Moreover, back at the Continent, Tall Man has no lack of able assistants and it seemed rather daunting at that time, for a 3-week old newbie to take over. Why, they could do things with thier eyes closed!

Anyway, Tall Man said something that added a shine to my day.

"When you are posted out? Want to come back to the Continent? The team liked you and wanted to work with you again".

I felt really embarrassed when he said that, even as my heart was bursting with joy. While deflecting attention as well as I could, Tall Man also said that he is due to come back to the Sphere, though I pointed out that as his 2nd posting, he's expected to stay on at the Continent longer.

Thank you God, that I've made a positive impact onto others, no matter how small. You are good Lord, towards me.

Ku Kwa Ku Kwa Ku Kwa Ku Kwa 小青蛙

Finally, the frog prince and princess 1 (the original one, heh heh), have married one another. Though he is far from rich, he's got himself a most priceless treasure in Ellen.

Froggy motifs are everywhere: from a pair of frogs adorning the bridal car (the frog bride with a strand of pearls no less!) to frogs on invite cards, and sitting on Andrew's home-made lily pads to the (gasp!) green of the bridesmaids' dresses - Ellen's fav color and frogs were the order of the day.

Woke up at 4.30 am to run over to Ellen's house (never even woke up that early for Northstar!). It's a hot and humid day at Action Theatre for the ceremony, with bridesmaids and bride and bride's mother breaking down at the end of the simple yet beautiful ceremony for the sacrifices that the mother had made to get the wedding going. And this despite initial objection, growing love for Andrew, little money but lots of creativity.

I think the best part of the whole wedding was that while it was simply done and many things home made, it was the love that was poured in by all of Ellen and Andrew's friends and relatives that made the day so special.
  1. Poor Erik and Zach, as the good "heng dais" that they are, hula-ed, sang songs and painted their nails to get Andrew through the bridesmaids' ragging.
  2. Little cakes (yummy strawberry, kaya slices and chocolate and fruit tartlets) were gaily arranged in dim sum baskets for a Fusion effect. Pink lemonade was served, while the guests mingled about to view their wedding photos hung up on cable ties on wooden frames. All baked, mixed, and hung up by friends and family.
  3. Mart and Eliz's heartfelt worship session always brought tears to my eyes.
  4. Ellen's gown was such a dream - the train was beautiful!!!
  5. Food was good at hotel. Room was lovely too.
Overall, quite a memorable wedding. Truly a lesson of being far more blessed to give than to receive. Seeing the joy on their faces is really a reward in itself.
